In keeping with the international
theme baseball is embracing in Spring Training, the Red Sox announced
Thursday they will play Australia's World Baseball Classic team
in an exhibition game Sunday, March 5, at City of Palms Park in
Fort Myers, Fla
First pitch is scheduled for 6.05pm ET
Earlier this month,
Major League Baseball announced the Australian team will hold
its training camp at Boston's Minor League complex in Fort Myers
on March 3-6
Led by skipper Jon Deeble, who serves as the coordinator of Pacific
Rim scouting for the Red Sox, Australia captured the Silver Medal
at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece
Tickets for the game, a 17th Red Sox spring home game, will go
on sale Friday at 9.00am, and all will be half price
