"High Performance News"
from Brett Pickett

The national team to compete in the World Baseball Classic will be announced shortly after the Claxton Shield in January 2006

The team will then go into a two week training and playing schedule to prepare for the WBC

The Taiwanese national team will be coming to our shores in early February to play a series of games against our team

Keep a close eye on the ABF website (www.baseball.com.au) for details of the games and schedule of our national team
If the national team ends up coming to a place near you, be sure to take advantage of the rare opportunity to see your team play against an international team and cheer the players on as they get ready for the biggest event of their lives

As you’ve probably heard by now, the World Baseball Classic, the first-ever true ‘World’ tournament, will be staged from the 3- 21st of March, in the USA, Japan and Puerto Rico and will feature the best professional players every country has to offer

Australia plays in the very tough Pool D alongside Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Italy
The competition will be extremely tough, but as we proved in the 2004 Olympics, we can beat anyone on any given day

The World Baseball Classic will be a baseball event unlike any of us have ever experienced before and players and officials alike are looking very much forward to the event

But rest assured, all involved will be focused on the job at hand - that being representing Australia with pride and showing the international baseball community (again) that we can compete with and beat the best
