2006 Altoona Curve
Sunday 3rd September
2006
How it all began
The Make-A-Wish
Foundation was founded in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona
A small group of people there helped a very ill little boy achieve
his wish
- to be a state trooper for a day
From that one wish made twenty-six years ago, more than 144,000
wishes have been granted
throughout seventy-two chapters in the United States and twenty-nine
international affiliates
Your Make-A-Wish
Chapter
The Make-A-Wish
Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia
was founded in May 1983 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Bryan was a seven-year-old cancer patient
who wanted to visit his favorite uncle in Texas for one of their
famous piggy-back rides
Today the chapter has granted its 7,000th wish
We are the first chapter in the world to fulfill more than six-hundred
wishes in one year
A note from
Elsie Zengel - Director of Community Relations, Altoona Curve
Subject
- Thought you might like to see these
Our event was a little short because of the double-header and
the fact that one of the
big light poles behind home and third shut-off and delayed us
about twenty minutes
And the fact that the bowling alley shut us down at midnight!!
However, we managed to make almost $600.00 for the Make-A-Wish
Foundation
The little blonde boy in the pictures is Dalton
He was our Make-A-Wish kid at last years event as well
Such a sweet kid
Nine years old with literally half a heart, a pace-maker and I
think only one lung
You'd never know anything was wrong with him though
He's a huge Curve fan and pretty much knows all the guys by name
So cute!!
