Blankers-Koen, who was declared Athlete of the Century and who
also had international honours conferred upon her
After relocating, the Almere baseball and softball club 'took
up residence' in the baseball and softball complex, which it has
continued to beautify in recent years
In 2004, the baseball pitch was modified to meet international
requirements and this is also when the stands and a new clubhouse
were built

The baseball pitch at Eindhoven's sports park
'De Heihoef' was not only PSV's home ground for 45 years, but
also became the very first permanent baseball pitch in the Netherlands
in 1959
This was thanks to a major contribution from Ir. Otten, chairman
of the Supervisory Board of Philips and a great baseball fan
Not surprisingly, the baseball branch of PSV became the home team,
which has played in the top echelons of Dutch baseball, the Major
League, for a number of seasons in the past 10 years
The complex was opened on 18 April 1959, with an international
match between the Netherlands and Belgium, which was repeated
in 1966
But it was then another twenty years before the next international
match was played in Eindhoven
That was in 1986 when the World Cup was organised in the Netherlands
for the first time
