Game #28 - Tuesday
21st December - v Tiburones
"Play-by-Play"
NOTE - there are three photos below, along
with an explanation of the screen
plus details of Brett's first two at-bats of the game
Below are three
photos of the computer screen showing what we see in Cairns
as each of Brett's games are being played over in Venezuela
These screen-shots are from the game played against Tiburones
on Tuesday 21st December 2004
This "Play-by-Play" is from the Leones del Caracas web
site
and the updates come through so quickly that it is almost like
watching a video!!!
We can't watch
and
we can't listen
but
this is a great way to follow each of the games!!!

Game Report
An explanation
of the photo
In the top-left-hand-corner is the fielding
team, and in this case you can see Brett's name in rightfield
Below that is the "jugada a jugada", being the
batter-by-batter report for the innings
With Leones in the field, the Tiburones batters are being listed
as they have their at-bats, but I scrolled up to show Brett's
at-bat and he led off the innings with a "ponche cantado",
which is a called strike three - according to my Spanish!!!
At the top on the right-hand-side are the scores from the other
games being played
Below that is the line score for this particular game
The current "lanzador" (pitcher) and "bateador"
(batter), along with their statistics, are listed
Below that is the "pitcheo a pitcheo", which
is the pitching sequence to the current batter
(in Brett's at-bat mentioned above, it was - ball/called/called/called)
To the right are the lineups for each team
Normally with the Leones fielding, the Tiburones lineup would
be shown but I clicked on Brett's team to show that he is batting
at number seven and is playing "jardinero derecho",
this being rightfield
Brett's second
at-bat of the game
This photo shows that Brett is coming
in to bat in the top of the fourth inning
The lead-off batter, Henry Blanco, hit "sencillo por el
CF", which is a single to centrefield
On the right you can see Brett's current statistics,
and he is facing pitcher Pat Mahomes of the Tiburones
This shows Brett on first base,
and he reached by "jugada de eleccion", which
is a fielder's-choice play
Henry Blanco was "out en avance - out forzado en 2b"
which means he was forced out at second base
