GAME -TWO
Altoona 4 - Akron 3

Email from Tanya - thirty minutes before the game got underway!!!
It is 8.30am Friday here.
and I am sitting here in my
Altoona shirt,
drinking coffee out of my
Altoona mug,
with my
Pirates hat on top of my computer screen.
I have
Brett's baseball card stuck to my monitor,
and my
Altoona keyring out as well.
Is there anything I have forgotten...?
Have a good one.
Tanya.

A look at Brett's at bats
Playing rightfield - batting at #4
Had 5 plate appearances - 3 at bats - and two walks
------1) RHP - bases empty/two down - and "laced the first pitch he saw into right-centrefield for a base hit" - single - and then stole to second base - left stranded at the end of the innings
------2) RHP - bases empty/one down - ball/ball/ball/called/ball - walk - but out at second base on a 'fielders choice' play on a hit by the next Curve batter
------3) RHP - led off the innings - and according to the commentator, "he jumped all over that first pitch for a base hit into rightfield" - single - went to second base on a ground out - and was left stranded due to a "very controversial strike three call" on a following Curve batter - and Dale Sveum, the Curve Manager, was ejected for arguing the call!!!
------4) RHP - runner at first-second base?/two down - and was issued an intentional walk - and left stranded again
------5) RHP - bases empty/two down - ball/called/swing&miss/foul/ball/swing&miss - strike out!!!

Reports from web sites and newspapers
(1) "In addition to Nicholson's heroics (two home runs), the Curve offense got contributions from Shawn Garrett, who went 3-for-3 plus a walk and an RBI, and
Brett Roneberg, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks"

Email from Geoff to Sharon and Tanya, and some of Brett's friends
Bottom of the ninth innings.
The Aeros got the tying run to first base BUT he was left stranded!!!
THE CURVE WIN!!!
SERIES TIED AT ONE ALL!!!

......and a reply from Tanya
Yay!

......a note from Matt Bolton
Thanks for the updates, Geoff.
Hopefully the boys can grab the next two at home.
I bet that 'ntentional walk' pissed you off, but given Brett's current form....I would've walked him too!!!
Thanks,
Matt.

Email from Sharon to Brett
Well Brett.
That was much better fun to listen to - a tad nerve racking though!
I have told you about that before!
When the coach was ejected the annoncer said "now that he's been ejected he's going toe to toe and really letting him have it!"
I guess there is a bit of bad language eh!!
Should be fun tomorrow being at home - give em a serve!
We'll be listening!
Love,
Mum.

......and a reply from Brett
Thanks Mum.
Was a pretty good game to play in as well.
Hope there is another good one tonight.
See ya.

Another note from Brett
Must have been pretty good to listen to over there, huh??
